The Blue Knights® International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club is a nonprofit, fraternal organization that brings together active and retired law enforcement officers who share a love of motorcycle riding.

Our story began in the spring of 1974, when several law enforcement officers* from the Bangor, Maine, area met and formed a small local motorcycle club.

It wasn’t long before new Blue Knights chapters began forming in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond.

When Canada—and later Australia—joined the family, the Blue Knights proudly became an international organization.

Giving back is an important part of who we are. Since we began keeping statistics, our charitable organization has contributed more than $18.8 million to charities around the world.

We’re a family-oriented fraternity made up of active and retired law enforcement officers. Spouses and children are always welcome and often join our members for rides, events, and other club activities.

Members are welcome to ride the motorcycle of their choice—there’s no requirement to own or ride an American-made bike such as a Harley-Davidson.

There is no probationary or prospect period for new members. Women are valued equally throughout our organization and serve as members and leaders at both the local and international levels.

* We gratefully recognize our founding members: Joel Rudom, Bill Robinson, Doug Miner, Ed Gallant, Mike Hall, Chuck Gesner, Wayne Labree, and Chuck Shuman.

Our Pledge

"As a Blue Knight, I pledge to act with honour and pride to promote motorcycling and motorcycle safety by being an example of the safe use, operation and enjoyment of motorcycles. I will work at all times to improve the relationship between the motorcycling law enforcement community and the general public. The fraternal spirit will always guide me in relating to other Blue Knights."
